Dr. Samantha Portis received her doctorate in medical sciences (concentration in neuroscience) from the University of South Florida in 2020, where she studied age-related neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology, stem cell therapy, and nutraceutical compounds. Her research focuses on medication development and identifying novel neuropharmacological and clinical behavioral targets. By translating her experience in preclinical neuroscience to clinical research, her research aims to make existing clinical treatments more effective and identify new treatments for alcohol and other substance use disorders.
